As Melbourne Fashion Week returns from 20 to 26 October 2025, sustainability takes center stage at REVAMPED, a three-day fashion market transforming the local space of Spring Place into a hub for conscious style, creativity, and community connection during the week-long event.

According to REVAMPS' media release, the event hosted by Melbourne Fashion Week is a push towards slow fashion practices by bringing together preloved wardrobes, independent local designers, and sustainable fashion labels.

“The event will be a curated destination for fashion lovers, creatives, and conscious consumers alike,” it says.

It’s not just independent designers who are shifting gear; it is also seen in major fashion events like Fashion Week. In fact, Sustainability Victoria suggests that by 2030, the entire fashion industry will be obsessed with sustainable practices.

We predict that the hand-me-down jumper or upcycled dress in your closet will never go out of style,” their website says.

This underlines how deep-seated the change is becoming, and how events such as REVAMPED are aligning perfectly with that trajectory.

“This is such an exciting step forward, Melbourne Fashion Week and Spring Place is an incredible platform, and we’re proud to bring more attention to sustainable fashion in a way that feels inspiring and inclusive,” says Shaelyn Hughes, co-owner of REVAMP.

Melbourne continues to present itself as a very distinctive and expressive city. It is a “very environmentally-conscious city,” as claimed by an article by Acacia Gabriel, A local’s Guide to Thrift Shops in Melbourne, Australia. Expressing that “thrifting has become a significant part of the culture and fashion trends.”

“The experience extends beyond fashion, with Madame Brussels Lane offering plenty to explore from cocktails at Little Lon to Vietnamese bites at Crackle Bae. It’s a full day out, celebrating local talent and conscious style in the heart of Melbourne,” the media release says.

The event invites everyone to experience fashion that feels as good as it looks, a reflection of Melbourne’s inclusive, forward-thinking approach to style.

“Beyond the preloved offerings, visitors will meet up over twenty inclusive stalls representing all sizes, styles, and genders,” the official Melbourne Fashion Week City of Melbourne website says.

As Fashion Week in the city of Melbourne embraces more ethical and independent businesses, it mirrors the ongoing shift in mindful consumption, circularity, and innovation, with the help of the REVAMP team and more.
